Lucy and Beau in the SNOW!

Chris and I took Lucy and Beau up to Meadows to go snowboarding this past weekend. It was Lucy's second time and even Beau got on the board this time! It was a gorgeous day, sunny and barely any wind.

Last time we were there Lucy wanted to go on the chair lift but Chris thought she would be too scared. She hung onto this thought and had one thing on her mind when we got there. She didn't want to do any riding, just go on the chairlift. So they went and she did great!! She said it was just a little scary (but she loves scary stuff, makes us fast forward to scary parts in her movies - should we be worried? LOL).

After that she warmed up and her and Chris took a couple "runs" on the bunny slope and rode the magic carpet. She did great and had fun :) Everyone always loves to see her all decked out in her little outfit on that teeny tiny board, she gets lots of attention and has lots of admirers :)

Chris pulls Lucy, and recently Beau as well, around on the snowboard through the house. Beau LOVES it! He cries when it's Lucy's turn and the second it's free he is trying to get his feet in the bindings. So when he acted the same way up at the mountain we decided to let him give it a try! Cutest thing ever, the boy was in HEAVEN! I have a feeling this will become one of his "physical outlets", which he is going to need LOTS of...like father like son.

There were some little girls taking a rest and waiting for their parents at the bunny slope watching and cheering for Lucy and Beau, they were so cute! You can hear them in the background of these videos of Beau...

We finished the day with hot chocolate and macaroni and cheese in the lodge before heading home. They both passed out in the car before we were even out of the parking lot. It was a LONG but fun day that I hope Lucy will have fond memories of (and Beau will have the videos and pictures!).

The haircut

For Christmas I bought Olivia a gift certificate to take her and Lucy to get their hair cut at "Sit Still" in West Linn - two birds with one stone (or actually three I guess).

Lucy has had her first hair cut already when we cut the mullet off a year ago, but we haven't touched it since then. I was really hoping for a cute little bob but Lucy was having no part of it; she held strong for months on wanting to keep it long, like Rapunzel. Sigh, It was a hard argument to win, which is why I lost (plus I am not sure if daddy would have actually let me cut "his princesses" locks more than the quarter inch we did anyways!).

Olivia sat in a pink car (Lucy wasn't thrilled with this but conceded I think mostly because she was a little overwhelmed with the whole thing up until this point) and had her hair cut in a cute, sassy, shaggy A-line that looks soooo cute on her! Lucy ended up in an airplane and with a trim, a pretty french braid and GLITTER, like real princess hair. They both left with lollipops in hand and pretty happy :)

Here are the million pictures I took (sorry!!!)

All done, what do you think?

Lucy Turns 3!!!

It's pretty hard to believe that Lucy is three years old, a preschooler! What an amazing three years it has been...

**********************************************************
I got the greatest idea on Pinterest to ask you child, starting at 3, a series of questions about themselves, and then you repeat them every year on their birthday. Then you combine them with a picture into a scrapbook. Here are Lucy's answer's this year:

1. What is your favorite color? Pink
2. What is your favorite toy? color crayons
3. What is your favorite fruit? strawberries
4. What is your favorite tv show? Scooby Dooby Doo
5. What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch? Macaroni and cheese
6. What is your favorite outfit? Unicorn Dress (that I made her for her birthday this year)
7. What is your favorite game? Eye Spy
8. What is your favorite snack? fruit snacks (she gets these at Grandma''s house!)
9. What is your favorite animal? giraffe
10. What is your favorite song? "ballet music"
11. What is your favorite book? Numbers (A picture book we have)
12. Who is your best friend? Originally she said herself but she was being really silly and so I re-asked the questions the following day and she said Beau :) I knew this one because she tells him at least 10 times a day!
13. What is your favorite cereal? "chocolate, the hard kind when daddy said no"...we don't really eat cereal.
14. What is your favorite thing to do outside? "play and I like to run."
15. What is your favorite drink? "chocolate milk" (pretty much just milk... I add about a 1/4 tsp to 4 ounces and she is thrilled with this!)
16. What is your favorite holiday? "Christmas. Halloween." Me to Lucy "so Christmas and Halloween?", Lucy "No, JUST Halloween."
17. What do you like to take to bed with you at night? "Not anything because it bothers me in my face."
18. What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? "not anything...just grilled cheese sandwiches."
19. What do you want for dinner on your birthday? She thought this was hilarious since I asked this the day after her birthday. I posed the question what would she want next year on her birthday for dinner and her reply was "apples, I really like 'em.'"
20. What do you want to be when you grow up? "A princess"

...So I had some making up to do for Lucy's birthday this year. Last year Beau was still a new baby and I remember making her cupcakes (which really WERE laborious - layer upon layer of rainbows in 24 cupcakes!) and feeling like I had just ran a marathon! In other words the cupcakes were about the extent of her party; I think we got some pizza, had some friends over to Grandma's house and that was that.

We kind of have a rainbow thing going...funny that this year it was Lucy's idea! Last year she was too little to have any real concept of her birthday -really emphasizes how much she has changed this past 12 months. She anticipated her birthday for MONTHS this year and had very clear ideas about what she wanted. It all started about 5 months ago when she spotted a unicorn pinata at WINCO....Rainbows and Unicorns is what she stuck with! I had so much fun with this party, even though it was A LOT of work, especially her dress! But all so worth it!

These are the cupcakes from last year ...............

This was what we got when asking to take her picture on her birthday - 3 is going to be a fun and LONG year!
